Work i've Been Doing in College

    Hey Guys! Miss all of you. I have some artwork to show off to some of you guys while I am in college. The first two are what I did in my Character Visualization class on my Midterm and Finals. Finals are my own, 3 original characters I made for a future game I want to release later on down the road. Midterm are Chinese- Feudal Era version of Sleeping Beauty. Do not bother stealing or plagiarizing. I already have the copyrights on them and I will find out.

    You don't have to worry about anyone stealing your artwork, you need to practice a lot more before these can become exceptional pieces.



    Ok, so it seems like there's a bored Ignoramus on the forum that decided to delete my last post. I guess I will have to give constructive critisim on this piece of artwork displayed.

    Honestly, I'm not really a fan of both pieces. I think these could be better, as far as a Ditigal Perspective. Although, I would suggest using Adobe Illustrator and look up some tutorials on "how to craft traditional pieces from scratch", that way you learn the basics of pin pointing shapes. That's all.

    Yeah, the shapes aren't very good and various limbs are disportionate. If you were to make a game, you should get a professional to do it or practice more. I would say that the Disney one is the better out of the two.

    This is only done in Photoshop. I know how to use Illustrator (Used Last year and helped made a fun game this fall semester in a Game Jam competition where teams try to make a game within 48 hours), but my Character Visualization class is with students using the pen and tablet within Photoshop the 2nd half of the semester while the 1st half, we sketch. Is not meant to be super cool. Long as students know how to do the basics. Not asking much. Some students liked them. I see the need for it to become more than it can be.

    I really like the idea of doing feudal Chinese versions of characters we're already familiar with. Other people have mentioned the issues with the shapes and proportions, so I don't feel like I need to go into that, but just by looking at the rough sketches, I especially like the concept of the Maleficent character. In the hands of someone who could really draw well, I think these characters would look really cool.

    In the first set, I also like the design of the woman. She reminds me of this Carmen Sandiego, femme fatale sort of character. Like she'll kick your ass and outsmart you, and break your heart at the same time. Lol.

    So I guess to sum up, your ideas are good; you just need some more practice, or else to partner up with someone with more skill with anatomy and such, should you choose to go forward with any of this.

    :) Thank you so much! I know I need to work on proportions (Need to study out anatomy). And I am so encourage with what you think about with the character that reminds you of Carmen Sandiego. What you describe her is very closely to what I wanted her to be. All I need is more practice and improve.

    The top set is definitely the stronger execution, the second two being stronger execitions. That being said, it's still in the realms of "good ideas; execution needs work."

    What might help for your practicing, if it isn't something you do already, is conisder the human body in terms of a gemoetric breakdown; the whole "head is an oval, etc." approach has helped me in the past.
