The stage is now set for the 57th quadrennial United States Presidential Election, to be held on November 6.

President Barrack Obama is running for re-election for the Democratic Party, Governor Mitt Romney for the Republican Party, and Governor Gary Johnson for the Libertarian Party. There have been three presidential debates and a vice presidential debate.

The question is who will you vote for? Have you registered? What are your opinions (pros and cons)? And the best part bring up the controversies!
    -----------------------------
I personally don't know anything about their goals or opinions or have listened to a word any have said. Politics only tell you what you want to hear not what you need to hear. I've sent my registration in the mail and waiting on confirmation. In the meantime, I'll be spending the next few days reading articles after articles on FACTCHECK to form my opinion. So if you guys know anything about these guys and their plans post it here.

*Facepalm* I already voted and I know some things as to what is going on. However, I have some problem:

Romney: Ok. first off, he ticked me off on several occassions, mainly on these topics:

His Binder full of women: If I made a poll as to how many people, man and woman, were offended when he said this, I think that it will be very high. I am going to remember this quote:

:D Now I wonder if one of us men here on the site used that statement toward the women on here and I wonder what will be the reaction.

The Teacher Comment: "I love teachers," but the nation's largest teachers' union isn't returning the favor." *Facepalms* I do not agree that the federal government have any say on education except to provide support in the financial aspect of education but Obama's plan has improved and is in the works. I am not even comfortable with with Romney said in relations t vouchers.

I will let the other members speak before I say anything else. Still, I want to know this: Who is better suited to get us out of debt so that we will not fear this in the future:

Based on what I've read, Gary Johnson rings a good tone in my mind. It seems like he's got a balanced point of view, and realizes that we can have the best of what both of the other parties tend to offer us.

I was watching Nickelodeon the other day and it was Kids Pick the President where the Kids went online to vote and I remember this in my youth. So, I was like "Hey, I'll check it out" and the biggest discussion on the forums was....

    Homosexuality.

From what I saw. Obama was pro Gay Marriages and Romney was con..
    Any thoughts?

I'm sure the federal government does have effects on our educational system but I believe that a non-unified educational system is our problem. There could be schools out there that receive poor education and tools compared to you and I. I asked my brother and my mother how many countries are in North America. Did you know what they both said. ONE! My brother said Mexico was in South America and he is 13. My mom is 40. Sad! really. There not the only ones. I'm sure.

I do need to give him consideration. I think the Libertarian party tries to find a middle ground.

The Gay-marriage issue is something that I find a bit strange on all accounts. In truth, the LAW shouldn't have any say in whether or not people of the same sex should be married. But very often, marriage is something facilitated through religion. It really seems to be the marriage has both a religious and legal ground. It's one thing if a church finds it to be against doctrine to actually marry two people of the same gender; if that's how they see their faith as standing in those terms, then that's what it is, and we can't be angry with them for following their faith and beliefs. But even failing that, the government shouldn't be allowed to deny people the right to be legally recognized as a couple.

I've never been married before, so I don't really know the nuts and bolts of how it works.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

Marriage has religious origins so strictly a Catholic, or Protestant would be completely against it. And I believe. In their rights and faith, they can be! Then again, our Constitution does not state anything about same sex marriage therefore it is given as a State Right. Although if we open same sex marriage what else are we opening ourselves up to. Some would argue that. It's tough for me to pick a side.

    Hmm...
Libertarian Party doesn't get as much publicity as the Democrats and Republican.
Or the Green Party at that matter (Jill Stein)

In the US, marriage has legal origins. In many other places, marriage has legal origins before religious origins. Marriage was an institution to gain power (Marry into a family to gain wealth, money, land, etc). Ergo, the government should have the responsibility to declare that same sex marriage is legal. The argument of "What else are we opening ourselves up to" is entirely invalid because it simply does not make sense. Marriage should be between two consenting parties, nothing more, nothing less. Children cannot give consent. Animals cannot give consent. Toasters cannot give consent.

Getting married under a church should have no legal bearing, and vice versa.

In other news, I'm voting Obama because Romney is an asshole. See: WATCH: Full Secret Video of Private Romney Fundraiser | Mother Jones

Which is sad, because looking through his website just now (because I'd honestly never heard of him- I don't much care about politics, though I probably should), it seemed like he has a good head on his shoulders, and I like his stance on some of the issues.

I haven't registered to vote, but if I did, I have no clue who I'd vote for. Romney makes me uncomfortable with his stance on abortion/women's rights, and Obama, well, I dunno that the last four years have been so very great.

I have trouble trusting any politician. And I don't feel like my vote does any good, because whoever wins will probably not do anything they promised anyway. >_<

The thing is about Obama, is the reason not much has been done is that Congress has blocked SO MANY GODDAMN THINGS. Plus, let's not forget Tim Boehner's "Let's make Obama a 1 term president" Spiel. Also, I'm going to use the analogy I've been wanting to use for a while: Obama was tasked with stopping a large rolling boulder. He's going to get pushed back before he can finally slow it enough to push it forward.

I don't understand how in the US. Marriage has legal origins when in fact Britain, Spain, and France had a big part to play in its creation when in fact they were for the most part strictly Catholic. Now, marriage that predates recorded history. Could as well have legal origins but from what I've learned. Marriage (in the name) derives from a union of a husband and a wife. Obviously marriage has evolved over time in the United States to a legal issue when church separated from the state.

Really, many things should be a way but it isn't.
That's debatable on who can give consent.(Specifically Children)

It's true though. If politician were more honest and sincere, our country would be in better shape than it is.

That sort of thing happens to pretty much every president of the US somewhere along the way. I must admit, our law-making system tends to lead to a lot of things not getting done in the modern age, regardless of who's in office.

^ I was thinking the same thing. I suppose it's good to have that system of checks and balances, to keep a president from running amok and making disastrous choices, but when it keeps everything from getting done, it's frustrating.

And before you know it, we will fall into chaos and another revolution will start. People vs. United States Government: Hunger Game style (Hopefully it will not come to it). -_- And sadly, honest beings are most likely will not make it. Only those with money can make it which is why you hear so much about the candidates spending so much fundings on their campaigns.

If you like, we can always have Obama act like Andrew Jackson and blow off the government in order to get what he needs accomplish ( I chose Andrew Jackson because Andrew Jackson went against the Supreme Court's decision of letting the Indians keep their land because the case was not a federal problem but was a state problem and us having a president who has such an attitude like him would be stunning). But anyway, want to know how to make it?
