41 year teacher leaves family for 18 year student

    Hooker, 41, has come under fire from many residents in Modesto, California, including Powers' mother Tammie, who is on a personal crusade to prove that Hooker's relationship is not just inappropriate but also illegal.

    Hooker, a business teacher at Enochs High School, met Powers when she was a freshman. In time, Powers became a student of Hooker, and the two claim that the relationship involved nothing more than typical student-teacher interactions.

    However, when Powers became a consenting adult, she and Hooker revealed that they were now a couple. The news seemingly came as a total shock to Hooker's wife and his three kids, whom Hooker abandoned to pursue his relationship with Powers. To make things more awkward for the family, one of Hooker's children is a 17-year-old classmate of Powers.

    Okay. I'm watching Doctor Phil and I see this story. So, now here's my opinion. This man is sick and a liar. He's been hounding this girl since she was a freshman (14). He clearly says there hasn't been any inappropriate contacting until she was 18. He is of course lying. He has been texting her plus she bought her own personal phone to text him.

    Not only is it a felony. It's plain creepy. He is throwing her life away because he has the urge to purge. This man left his wife and three daughters for an 18 year old girl. His older daughter. She's 17, one year younger than Power, and she attends the same school as Power. Both Power and
    Hooker's daughter had to leave the school.

    Comments or Concerns?

    Wow....... That's wrong. I could understand if he was like 22 while she was 18, but 41 and 18???? What the factor is wrong with that guy?

That is all I can say. -_- The power of manhood slipped down even more. <.> And Powers is just as sick. WHERE WERE HER PARENTS WHEN THIS WAS GOING ON?!

    We dont know their personal feeling yet we are all apparently going to judge. What if they genuinely love each other? Its no crime of law so who are we to judge?

    Not judging at all. I mean, it was illegal when she is under 18 years of age that made it illegal. Now that she is 18, it is nigh impossible to say that it is now illegal. Now if both of them were on a friendship level when Powers was under 18, that I can understand and Hooker do not have to be blamed for having a friendship relation with the girl. What was on the text, I do not know and they did not show the texts and the time as to when the texts were sent but I am more concern about why Hooker actually left his family for Powers. Now that can bring some concern to me since Hooker can care for Powers as a friend but do not have to divorce his wife for Powers. If Hooker was not married, I would have less of a concern with this and I would not have to say (Although Is aid it a little bit out of term) what I had to say in my last post.

    Also, what if Powers and James Hooker's daughter were friends? I know that Hooker's daughter would be uncomfortable if Powers and Hooker got marry. An 18 year old being a step mom to a 17 year old. Not only that, Jordan Powers got her own PERSONAL PHONE to text HIM, that her mom has the right to look into.

    Her mom actually has every right to make sure that her daughter is safe. A Teacher-student relation that is not sexually interactive (Which is mean physical and emotional) and is only on a friendship level is ok but seeing as to how it is sexually emotional, her mom has the right to make sure that Jordan under 18 and James who is an adult is not having any love affairs. However, it is her mom's fault that she did not teach Jordan Powers why one should not even be in a relationship with an older person in the first place because that friendship relation may end up developing into a love relation. She should have kept up to date as to what was going on.

    I do not care if a 30 year old man loves a 23 year old woman or if a 20 year old man loves a 24 year old woman. However, when you are an adult and you are trying to have a love relation with someone who is 18, that can bring up some suspicion and worry. I can understand what you mean Luke about the "What if they actually were in love", but the problem is that:

    1. This was done when Jordan Powers was under 18
    2. James Hooker is an adult when Jordan was under 18.
    3. James Hooker is married.
    4. James Hooker left his wife and family for Powers. He even resign from teaching to be with the girl.
    5. Jordan mom should have realize earlier.
    6. Jordan moved in with James Hooker
    7. There were some interactions and that they text and email 4 hours a night call. -_- Really Luke. No student and teacher would text or talk THAT long over a text or phone call.
    8. They actually admitted in the video that their feelings slowly grew over time even though James Hooker said that there were no special interactions.
    9. James Hooker's daughter was kicked out of the school for this. -_-

    Now that you know this, there are no judging from me. However, seeing from both sides and when you actually dig in deeper into the matter, you can see that the situation should be check into this.

    None of that really makes any difference lol

    I mean i dont think its right, but why should my opinions matter? Love doesnt start at 18. It doesnt stop because it shouldnt be.

    Love? Love doesn't mean a thing. This man has been praying on this girl since the 9th grade. Of course, she's going to like him. The movie "The Time Traveler's Wife" This twenty/thirty year old man kept visiting his wife in the past when she was like 7. She had no choice but to fall in love with him. Hooker is the same way. Trapping this girl.

    We do know their personal feelings. Hooker said he started liking Jordan on a trip when they stayed at a hotel. According to him, that is the moment. He really got to know Jordan.
    Oh like Hooker loved his wife and his three daughters. It doesn't matter if they genuinely love one another. Eventually, you'll get over it and move on. Or die of depression. (aka moving on)

    Actually a teacher/student love relationship is a felony.

    It doesn't. So why does it matter if you judge them or not. You could judge them. (It doesn't matter.) You could not judge them. (It still doesn't matter.)

    Oh wait. We live in America. We can make our opinions a reality.

    There are all types of love. Besides you can easily love someone and not love them the next.

    I believe their was 21 messages sent between Powers and Hooker when she was underage. Hooker called Jordan during a school trip. According to the phone records.

    Hooker said he knew the consequences of leaving his family. He said there were already problems in his marriage and there were other women before Jordan.
    I wouldn't put all the blame on the mother. Kids do what they want when they want. All you can do is hope. She is a single mother raising at least two girls. Jordan's father died. You can't always keep tabs on your kids. Her mom did know that Jordan had a 4 year relationship with a boy her own age.


    I like when Doctor Phil was talking to Hooker.
    Dr.Phil: How are you going to support 3 kids. -looks at Jordan- 4 kids.

    I say America because this happened in America. I'm pretty sure. You live in some type of Democracy though.
    A felony isn't one crime.

    As far as, I know. There are felonies and misdemeanors.

    Felonies are serious crimes such as murder and rape.

    Misdemeanors are less severe crimes like petty theft and loitering.

    Umm...that's harsh/cruel and unusual punishment even for Hooker. Plus, your in the same boat as Hooker except for a couple of factors. So, you just suggested burning yourself.

    I don't care what digit you are in. Still a 11-12 year old girl dating a 17 year old is still a pedophile. A girl that young (11-12 or 18) is not old enough to make mature decisions. Either way, you can't say this guy (Hooker) needs to burn for dating Powers when you are doing the same thing.

    It's fine. I'm within the rules.
    It's a discussion forum. We all argue on a daily basis. It is on topic. I'm comparing his situation to the teacher's situation. You don't go around saying a 41 year old teacher having relations with a 18 year old needs to burn when you are doing something similar.

    Still contradicting yourself. So your saying all guys who go after younger girls should burn.
