Debate on RP Ideas

So I have a few ideas for new RP's however I can't seem to make up my mind on which RP would be more succesful and appealing to the KHPlanet RP community. The different RP's are listed out...

1.) X-Men: The Next Generation= Sequel Canon RP to the X-Men film "X-Men: The Last Stand"
It's been quite a few years since Jean, Scott, and the Professor have passed away. Since then many mutants have been getting cures. Slowly over the years though a vacine for every human has been created to stop themselves from becoming mutants. The number of mutants have slowly been dropping ever since then. Current mutants have slowly been hunted down and have had to go into hiding.

It's been 15 years, Storm and Logan both still have the mansion and have been trying to make it a safe haven for mutants, but there is a threat about the mansion being discovered. When a group of 4 young mutants come to the mansion to learn to control their powers and escape government, Logan starts to discover clues of a remarkable discovery, Professor X is alive. The X-Men don't know if this is true or not, but they can only hope that he may be able to make everything alright.
    Possible CharacterTypes-
X-Men you can make a past X-Men character who still resides with the mansion, you can make Storm, or Logan
    4 young new X-Men
Villianous Mutants the one's causing riots against government
Government Officials trying to hunt down mutants

2.) Keyblade Academy- canon Kingdom Hearts RP.
Long, long ago children wouild be born with a special mark that showed signs that they would become keyblade wielders. People feared keyblade wielders until a school on an abandoned world of the Land of Departure vowed to teach children of keyblades to use their power for good to protect the worlds and fight for the light. Every child would eventually graduate and get assigned to a world to protect, so the school prooved itself to be helpful, however corruption of power can't always hide away.
    Character Types=
    Keyblade Appentices/Students
    Keyblade Masters serving as teachers
A corrupted or maybe a group of corrupted keybladers of the shadows

3.) We're Not Dead- Orginal RP
When a group of teenagers find themselves fooling around in the grave yard, the find themselves soon in the underworld, the world designed for the dead, the problem is they're not dead. Can the teens fight through and get back before it's too late or will they join the dead?
    Character Types-
    Group of Teens
    The Dead

4.) Chroniclesof Narnia: The Young Narnian- Canon RP, note- yeah I know another Narnia RP from me. Well in the past I never actually read the books(I read the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe, the Magicians Uncle, and part of Prince Caspian) but I have just finished reading the last book in the series(started reading the Horse and His Boy but I just didn't grasp it as well, I suppose
SPOILERS- Unless you have read the book, are up for doing research on the books. Please take note that below is a spoiler in itself.

    Last Chance!!!!!!

It's been many years since the death of Susan's family. She has been living in New York City in America for quite sometime. She's happily married and eventually has a child. It would seem Susan's life is quite a happy one, her child would disagree. As the child lives life feeling locked up, she doesn't feel free like she think she does. When her mother take her and a few friends on a ski trip in Vermont, the daughter of Susan and her friends find themselves venturing through a cave of ice. To their amazement though they have been transported to a barren ice land, unknown to them that the world they stumbled upon is Narnia and it is up to them to bring back the once beautiful world and bring a new start.
    Types of Characters-
    Daughter of Susan
    Susan's Friend

    5.) The Quest- Original/Canon note
In a mythical land far away from this own land, there lives a kingdom so magnificent one can't help but bow down to its glory. It was once ruled by a very king king and queen until their son, a selfish boy sought an unknown revenge against the kingdom, he murdered his parents and took over the world enslaving many. A prophecy speaks though of twins born in the mythical land, twins that were safely taken to the our own land until the right time.

When the twins exploring out in the woods stumble accross a secret passage way to the mythical land, they are quickly captured and enslaved completely unknown to a powerful magic within them. This is the story on how two prodigals fight back a kingdom.
    Types of Character-
    Twins
    Evil King
    Rebels
    Loyal Soldiers to the King

Thats about some of the ideas I have. As you can see they're kind of rough(except the first one, I had that idea for quite a while) but I want to know which one to devote my time to smooth it out and make into a RP.

  2. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

If I wasn't completely retired, I would say the X Men roleplay and the Young Narnian. -___- Trying to have another Kingdom-Hearts related roleplay will be a bore and I can see everyone start trying to have a keyblade of their own and try to be in the lime light. The "We're Not Dead" roleplay, that will be dead real quick. As for "The Quest" roleplay, it is ok but seeing as to how it will be hard to actually develop a main plot for it will slowly progress.

Well, the Keyblade Academy idea seems like it's something that everyone could find a nitch in. If everyone has a Keyblade, then everything is in equilibrium, because everyone's gonna be running around like they're the big cheese. Personally, I think there needs to be an RP made that can get the newer players mingling with the older ones, and I think, if it's played right, an [Insert Special Whatever] Academy idea would, if played out right, something that can have a place for everyone. Everyone just needs to be willing to join it.

  4. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

??? But they can do the same with X-Men too. Well... f they ever watched or read anything X-Men related that is. -____- And wasn't there was a rule about not having your character acting like "The Big head Honcho" or some other?

  5. Destiny

    Destiny Guest

Mary Sue, Godmodding, Powerplaying usually occur when a character is thrown into the head honcho position, there have been plenty of characters able to jump into the position fairly easily.

A keyblade academy would be a little more equal. Granted there always will be that one or two leadership position characters who mainly jump and make themselves that, but however it's much more equal.

X-Men is a little more complex for straight in new members which I believe what wayward is referring to.

I'd be up for X-Men, I know that a large percentage of the members on this website will most likely have cable and on a lazy day flipping through channels like Disney XD and Cartoon Network is a commonality, and Lazy Days take up lots of our lifetime. Simply put people on this website have passed by X-Men before and probably get the basic gist of of it. The plot line doesn't need to be simplified a whole lot because the majority of the population of active roleplayers on the site would be able to understand a complex plot.

    So we got...

    X-Men: II
    Keyblade Academy: I

X-men is a no, to be honest. Too easy for people to break the canonality of powers (by doing something incredibly un-marvel-esque) or too easy to god mod. Key blade academy would be interesting, though whether I can actually participate remains to be seen.

  9. Desert Warrior

    Desert Warrior Well-Known Member

To throw in my two cents, I'd be most willing to go with the fifth option.

Like I've said before, I prefer original RPs and not canon ones. Out of the three canon ones, I would pick the KH one simply because I can see it as having the least amount of influence from canon materials. Although I feel as though I've played too many KH RPs (And to be honest, we've tried a keyblade academy at least once already).

I'd go with X-Men because i'm kinda tired of KH rps

I think there have been three since I joined. I made two of them. And I think Trio made another one. None of them really lasted. My first one could have used a little more of a solid plot, and my second one was impeded by the fact that I was away most of the time I had it running. Either way, an Academy type RP is something that usually gives everyone an even role. the challenge is providing something substantial enough to form a tangible, endable plot with it.

  12. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

??? But X-Men can also give everyone a role. And to debate about a KH rolepay being more equilibrium, heck no. It doesn't matter if everyone has a keyblade, that still doesn't debate as to the power that the character actually use. A keyblade is just a weapon. What matters is the power and/or ability (abilities) that the character can do and use. X-Men is just as up there with KH and it cannot be complex. Whether the person knows something about X-Men or not, they can still participate. A KH roleplay can still be complex because the person might not know how a keyblade actually work and the person might not even know something about Kingdom Hearts or how an ability actually works.

And to yell at Moog/Requiem, it is just as easy for someone to break the canon-quality of a Kingdom Hearts roleplay too. It is easy for anyone to do in any roleplay. No lie. I did it, all of you did it at one point (More than one point actually), new members here did it and I bet the next person who registers here on the site will do it too.

And to debate against Desert, how can you not see that Kingdom hearts is highly influencial. X-Men is less influenced than Kingdom hearts. -___- Don't you even know how many Kingdom Hearts roleplays have been made that based around: Keyblades; hearts; nobodies trying to regain their hearts; characters who are successors to the game's characters; different types of Nobody Organization that are in successor to Organization XIII; characters from the game that we actually played as; a favorite keyblade from the game that one would want to use; how many times people keep on grabbing for Oathkeeper; Oblivion; Ultima, and characters who are orphans who are able to wield keyblades?

<.> I am like 8-Bit. I get very tired of seeing KH-related roleplays. Trying out something new like X-Men would give even the veterans something new to try out. We have 20+ roleplays that stems from Kingdom Hearts and 98% of those roleplays either never got completed or never have even been started. Don't believe me? Here's the list that I know and the roleplays that I have been and not have been a part of and other roleplays that have been started:

Organization XV, Kingdom Hearts: Last Hope, Kingdom Hearts: Last Stand, A KH Story: New Twilight,
Entering the KH-3.net, Kingdom Hearts: Dawn of Judgement, The Final Kingdom, Kingdom Hearts: Runaways, Kingdom Hearts: False Dreams 1 & 2, KH: The Darkest Days, KH3 Part 1: A Forgotten Mist,
KH: Neo Organization XIII, KH: The Remnants Part 1, A New Chaos Kingdom Hearts, KH: The New Organization, KH3: The Roleplay,
Mark of Mastery Roleplay Arena Tournament (Which Nicole never even bother starting),
Betwixt Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Forbidden Secrets, Keyblader School,
Another Kingdom Hearts Story, Neo Kingdom Hearts: The Forbidden Darkness,
Kingdom Hearts Ultima (remake), The New Stand 6, Keyblade Chronicles: Academy Days, Kingdom Hearts: The Resistance.

-_____- And the list just keeps going and going even before I joined the site. Believe me. It it BORING!!! Guess which Kingdom Hearts Roleplay ever got completed and actually had an ending?! DESERT'S ROLEPLAY! Kingdom Hearts: The New Neo Organization! That is the one Kingdom Hearts roleplay (And my very very last roleplay to happily start my complete roleplay retirement) that ended... in a strangely good way. Like I said before. There is no reason to start another Kingdom Hearts roleplay. It will just die and fade once again (Unless we do it Desert's way and struggle as we enjoy ourselves). This is why I recommend Mainly X-Men or The Young Narnians.

Let's see. X-Men have 3 votes, Keyblade Academy has 1, The Young Narnian has 1, and The Quest has 1. I am not roleplaying anyways but since I really want to give out my best advice, it is better if all of you either go with X-Men or The Young Narnian.

Actually, not really. New Dawn ended, too. Several times, I might add.

And the whole canonality thing is much harder to break in KH unless you were trying to. The universe as a whole is a lot more flexible than, say, the regular Earth in which X-Men takes place.

And leave Betwixt out of this: It's in PROGRESS.

And finally, my characters were always underpowered, because I'm one of THOSE people who hate fucking with the actual events of a canon. Call it literary ocd. So I've never REALLY messed with the canonality myself.

Ok. We can include the New Dawn series but New Dawn 6 went and died; I am not going to leave Betwixt out of this. it is still a Kingdom Heart-related roleplay so I am including it in. As for the canon elements of KH, explain to me how it is hard if you can.

Out of RP's that have been completed it would seem the only ones that do get completed, I know of a few non kh rp's that got completed. Just you know coming from one of the mods during RP's Golden Age *Shrugs*.

Here's the way I view it(but once again this view I'm not looking at because I'm going to be the creator and creator's always try to think highly of their RP's)...

X-Men: If enough people sign up and stick with it, I can see it lasting fairly far into the plot before a possible death, maybe it'll get lucky and be completed.

Keyblade Academy: If there IS a story and legit Plot instead of just "There's this keyblade academy, you're all students, now go RP whatever the heck you'd like because it'll die after a couple pages". I do have a plot planned out, it's just a matter of people sticking to the plot and not getting too far off track and even as apprentices not one steps forwards all "guess what I signed up as a student just like everybody else but in all truths my character's this awesome prodigal that owns!" then I can see possibly joining the ranking of New Organization where it lasts long, contains good twists, but may not necessarily be successful in sequels.

We're Not Dead: Originals I find so many with such great stories and I can't wait to be completed but because Originals are based off of a plotline and story created in the creators head, people don't know what to expect, know which path to journy down, now I've seen some of the more advance writers complete some pretty awesome legit originals, but once again it comes down to the RP'ers and if they ever have a doubt or idea contact the creator before assumption.

Young Narnian- This falls with X-Men, the down fall I see of this is the story left from the last Narnia book will be hard to create a story and I created this RP(though I may just end up writing a story and posting it up on a different writing site) to be an ending for Susan because she does get left behind, she's almost left in the dark.

The Quest: This one is similar to We're Not Dead in the case it is original with some plot ideas modeled around some of other common stories I know of. This comes down to the RP'ers and how loyal they stay to it. The thing with this one, this is just a modeled idea of mine, it's not completely molded yet into a RP success story, it's still in the stages of a story summary.

Summoner, I really feel like unless you're going to RP your vote shouldn't really count. I made this thread to see what RP ideas people are interested in and to see who'd be up for RP'ing it. I'll include vote though, so current standings...

    X-Men: 3
    Keyblade Academy: 2
    The Quest(Original RP): 1

You didn't quite get what I meant. Requiem summed it up fairly well.

This is what I meant. All you really need for a KH RP is a keyblade, light vs. darkness, and the worlds. Aside from that you don't need anything else that is part of the mainstream KH canon.

  17. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

I don't care if my vote do not count at all. I am just here to give out my opinion. OH yea! One more thing!

DX That is what I am afraid. And why should you add in a "New Organization"? Can't we just leave that part alone and at least have one where it is not in tie with similarities to Organization XIII? You can have a evil group if you want but I bet that it will take away some energy.

I think she's talking about the original one. It is one of the largest threads on the forum, stopping at about 670 pages or so. We had tried doing a sequel to it at least twice, but those both died.

The New Organization that you're thinking of was kinda a redo, but at the same time it was simply an RP with the same premise, but different characters. For all intents and purposes, both New Organizations are related but aren't dependent on each other.

All I can say on this right now is that I'd really just like to see an RP as such:

Flexible plot. Just a plot that's flexible enough that the overall direction doesn't have to change just because someone puts their own ideas/methods into action.

Equality of character roles. By nature, all characters are of equal importance in the story. From there, importance as it develops becomes based on who puts more into the story.

Character building opportunity. I kind of want to see an RP that can involve a character starting from complete scratch, and being built up. I guess that's why I'm attracted to anything "Academy" oriented. They provide easier ground for building a character, not only in terms of powers/abilities, but also in social terms.
