Ashes of the New World

Once there was peace in our world until a violent clash between the Mytholanians and the Grunchars took hold, corrupting our grasslands and cattle with seeds of black spew. This spew is the informal name of what is called the Lithan, a material which eats up everything in its path. It once was weak to start off with but as tensions for food rose around the Grunchars' region, they started to steal off the other clan. With their axes, bows and magic, they were able to penetrate through the defenses of the Mytholanians and killed their farmers so they obtain their land. The corruption then followed and the Lithan did so in addition due to this grave action. No one knows where this strange concoction came from but now two kings fight a war no one can win unless the creator of the Lithan is stopped. All they do, however, is blame themselves. Four teenagers from both sides of the fight (The Mytholanians and the Grunchars) held a friendship since their childhood and have been obscured by their friends and family. Now with their farmlands in ashes and their clouds being nothing other than black with the sunlight never showing, the four escape to try and figure out who started this mess. Little do they know their heritage of heroes. Within their dreams and some, their nightmares, they see their family heirloom, their weapon and the carrier. The beholders once carried these arms in times of triumph and now the weapons must be used again. This tale died many years ago, however, and has been left forgotten. The weapons do remain, on the contrary. Who may face them you ask? The Creator and his followers.

The World and its Origins

You may be confused as to why magic is being used and why there are Earthly runes around this world. You see, there was a little old planet named Earth and after considerable attempts at creating a new atmosphere for Earth, they failed and the US secretly brought over thousands of humans to the New World named Arcania via a secret project known as the same name. They then colonized but the strange thing about this world is the fact the matter of energy is being transported through the air. People were suddenly able to shoot fireballs out of their hands. One person, who brought over militarial weapons (which was illegal to bring over) suddenly found out they never ran out of ammo. Magic started to become a part of their lives and this period of Earth was forgotten in a few generations. They did not want to remember the deaths of billions of people. Relics were brought over from Earth from which were myths. This was a symbol of good luck for the crew. (I will PM you the information about these weapons). The guns were explained however so there's no need to worry about that. Back on subject, this magic is now backfiring on them as war starts and the Lithan created by an anonymous source has been threatening the land. People theorize its because of the corruption in the world.

Bio: Jag's strange name comes from the scar he gashed on his shoulder when he was a kid when practicing lightning. Ever since he was a toddler, he was able to cast magic. He even puked a fireball at a young age instead of barf. His family are bakers who are known throughout the land for making bread. That's all they do in their spare time...making bread. With the ingredients left by the ancestors of the Old World, they created new types of it including Cheese Bread and Wholewheat Bread. They even revolutionized the way people ate as they founded cheese for the first time in the world. You see, there is a theory that this recipe book is one of the few remaining runes from the Old World. What is this Old World, you say? The philosophers suggest that there was a planet called Earth which supplied them with the foundations of their civilizations. These runes came from these people who relocated here. Jag is fascinated by this origin story but many details have been kept away from the public which proves its existence. There is one family heirloom he longs to hold which is placed above the fireplace inside a mantelpiece. It is a magic rod, which has an unknown origin. His family does not want to touch it in fear of it being cursed. Jag, however, has been getting dreams about this weapon and its holder. The holder was once a wizard, who helped a man in armor called Arthur. With his magic, he was able to fight dozens of enemies at once with his outstanding ability of casting. Afterwards, he sees himself doing the same. Its strange. Ever since the war has happened, the dream has occurred a lot more frequently and his friends are experiencing the same dreams. Is there a connection between the four weapons each of them possess? He has been friends with them since childhood and would trust them with his life. Jag has lived a good life but unlike his parents he doesn't want to be a baker; he wants to explore. (I may update this bio later once other signups show up)
Personality: Jag is an aspring magician who always tries to get better. He likes to improve himself and set challenges. Despite his black appearance, he is a soul who likes to socialize and show off his magical tricks. When facing danger on the other hand, he is not as spunky as one may think.
Appearance: By the way, there is a reason why he's wearing modern clothes. I emphasize you do the same too.

Name: Bayette
Age: 16
Clan: The Grunchars
Role: The Gunner
Theme: YouTube - Bayonetta - Fly Me To The Moon (Climax)
Bio: Bayette was born the daughter of the King's Captain of the Gunman Guards, so as such she has been trained with excellent aim and a vast knowlegde of firearms. Unfortunately, her mother died at childbirth, so she has no real mother-like figure. However, she is expected to inherit a massive responsiblity from her father. A responsibility that very much bores her. As such she goes about her own business, whether it be hanging out with her friends, or just struting around town looking for something to do.
Lately, she was having strange dreams about a person smuggling guns on what appeared to be a ship sailing in space. When landing on the planet, he handed out the guns and the people prospered. The man's deed, though irreversable, was seen as a crime and he was put to death and quickly forgotten. The dream started to appear more frequently when the war between the two kingdoms started, and Bayette does not comprehend why.
Personality: NOTE: When I describe her, you might percieve it as 'slutty' this isn't what I'm going for, think more like a model. Stylish, not vulgar Bayette is not quite as serious as her friends would like. She flirts with friends and foe alike, not in a sexual way, but in a sort of half-mocking, half-serious kind of way. Nothing really bothers Bayette, and when she rarely loses her cool, it is because someone has touched some emotional nerve. She reacts uncaring to danger, almost as if she knows she'll make it out ok, even if she has sustained damage already. She rarely hands out respect, and only to those she feels have earned it, and even then it sounds sarcastic. She will protect her friends, but she would scold them afterwards, but then would resume her very flirtatious attitude.
Combat Abilities: Bayette is especially skilled with handguns, firing them at long range. She is by no means defenseless at hand-to-hand combat, however, as she will skillfully hit her enemies with the pistols and then elegantly dodging away to get a good shot. One could say that when she fights, it looks like a dance . She has some skills when it comes to magic, but she is very unskilled when it comes to elemental magic (fire, water, lightning, etc. ) and never uses it. Instead her areas of expertise are Time and Gravity.
Time Manipulation: Bayette has the ability to slow time to a crawl (Not completely stopping it) while she moves at her normal pace. Now before you start calling 'cheap', this has a few restrictions: 1. she can only hold it for a few seconds at a time, the longest she's every held it was 7 seconds (from her perspective). 2. she is unable to use it again for several minutes after using it ('Recharge Time' varies with how long she used it)
Gravity Manipulation: Bayette can manipulate her own gravity and that around her (The field is about 2 feet from her body). This allows her to walk along walls and even ceilings, where she will often go to for getting her better shot. This 'anti-grav field' also allows her to jump relatively high, so she can reach high places from which to shoot from. Her last power (That she has yet to perfect) is a sort of 'fake super strength'. It is fake in the sense that she is not stronger, but rather the object is lighter due to the anti-grav field. (Again, she has yet to perfect this.)
Her biggest weakness lies in reloading. When she reloads, she draws the magic from the air to materialize bullets in the chamber. (At least that's what I believe Sorabrawl said the people do) this takes several seconds of uninterrupted concentration. During that time she will typically fight close range as mentioned above, or retreat aways away to reload.

Name: Cynthia
Age: 15
Clan: Mytholanians
Role: The knight
Theme: deciding
Bio: Cynthia is a daughter of a blacksmith and midwife and one child of 8. Cynthia is the middle child of the family and such a large family she'd often be mistreated. She is one of 3 daughters, and often looked down upon.

Her older sister is married and a mother 4 to a lord, her other older sister is engaged to the silversmith and a mother of a little boy because she was one night raped by a drunk man. Both her sisters engaged at 16, and Cynthia was expected to do the same, however Cynthia is a tad more rebelious.

Cynthia since she was 3, has always been like a tom boy. At age 4 she snuck in her father's shop and picked up the sword and was able to swing it around at ease. Since then she's been able to 'sword fight' with many things: poles, swords, sticks, etc. Cynthia is very good at it and is because of her perfect balance, agile speed, quick reflexes, great strength, and quick strategizing.

Cynthia with her nature has often times gone out to the local woods outside of town and 'practice' sword fighting, thats when she was noticed at age 14 by a higher up knight for the king. Cynthia even know as a woman, she was taken under the knight's wing and brought to the city and trained to become a knight. Though she was still frowned upon as a woman, she doesn't mind. She's been able to escape her parents who were after her to find a husband.

It's been a year since she's become a 'knight in training', she's been having strange dreams. In them she's not a 'knight in training' necessarily but rather much like a servant fetching things for the knights. Little did the other knights know of her great skills until she pulled a sword from some stone that nobody could pull the sword from. When she did that, she came under the training of a wizard named Merlin and she eventually rose to become ruler of the kingdoms and uniting them all together. Ultimately from this dream she wishes she could do the same with her own two kingdoms fighting that she lives under.

Personality: Cynthia is a smart, rebelious, brave young woman. She doesn't let anything stop her and she sees nothing being too dificult. Cynthia can have a bit of a temper especially towards her pestering parents.

Cynthia has always believed in helping people. She often times will put herself in danger to get others out of danger.

Cynthia's greatest trait though is her leadership even know it stays usually hidden away.

Age: 16

Theme: YouTube - FFVII Crisis Core Soundtrack: The Price of Freedom
Bio: Will was always the fighter of the village, getting into brawls with anyone that peaked his temper and any trouble that seemed to find him. Eventually he joined the knights for training and was a great swordsman but all the swords were too light for him, making him off balance when he fought with them with all he had. Eventually they found a battle axe for him to use and told him to continue training with that weapon. It was old and rusted but it worked while he trained and came to like the feel of the polearm in his hands. After he had started with the battle axe he started having odd dreams at night about a large battle axe with lightning marks on the side of the blade, and a strong blonde man hammering the blade into shape with a large hammer. One night after his training he decided to go out and climb the mountain near the village. As he climbed a thunderstorm started, making going hard. Eventually he reached a summit of the mountain and saw the large axe from his dreams stabbed into the ground, pole pointing towards the sky. As he reached forward and grabbed the weapon right as it was struck by lightning. Will passed out and awoke in the morning, axe on his back and him face down on the summit. He made the trek down and continued his training with the knights, only telling his three best friends about the night.
Personality: Kind and caring but very short tempered and bull headed at times.

Ummmmmm, Destiny? The setting is more modernish except for the Kings. (At least from what I've gathered)

 

There are kings in this. The King of Mytholania and The King of Grunchar.

 

Well, I gathered the opposite, a sort of midieval setting and life with a mix of some modern weapons like guns. Like you look at Sora's character bio, they own a bakery. Then in the main RP intro post you get farmers, and then people going and killing other farmer's for their land(something really only done so in midieval times for nowadays one person cannot kill a farmer for their farm). Then you get a sort of foreshadow back to King Arthur and the Arthurian legends(which their setting was midieval)

 

ok then. Going off to play PS3! How will the guns play a part then? All guns would be able to replenish ammo due to the mana (magic) in the air.

Now we need a villain and we're all set. Think of him as a henchman. I'll do that later today.

 

One problem. According to the RP story, the friends came from both sides, so far all four friends are Mythlonians

Yeah, I guess so. Roxion, you change yours and I'll change mine. I'm going to start this and then once hell breaks loose, I will reveal the bad guy.

meh, start since we're waiting, DW said he might put up a villian, I'll ask him again. But yeah, I say we should start this, the villain doesn't need to be known now.

 

Unless you need a villian in the beginning then go on ahead and start I think
