crappy title but ah well couldnt think of anything better =/

ooookay, so i dont know if this is true or not but me n some friends were discussing it like two days ago.

If you were walking down the street, and there was a civilian and a cop standing next to each other, and some1 were to shoot the police person, and another person were to shoot/kill the civilian, the person who shot the police person would get punished more severially [sp].

That is basically stateing that a cops life is more valuable then a persons life.
Witch in my oppion is not right at all.

do you think its right to put a cops life higher then a cevilian's life?

    discuss ^.-

    Ugh...

Okay, I'm going to just say this and disprove both sides of the arguement.

Assuming this happened in America, our Constitution says that every man was created equal.

If we give one of these people a more severe or lesser punishment than the other, then I'm going to end all this and set the constitution on fire myself.

no a cops life is not more valuable than a normal civilians life, but due to the fact that they risk their lives every day to keep people safe, for one to be killed, is kinda more of a big deal. when was the last time that your normal "civilian" saved a life? also the person that is taken to court for the death of either the cop or the civilian, is charged the same, just in the cops case, since the cop ranks slightly higher, there is extra fine. though the cops life is not more significant than the civilians, the cop still ranks higher than the civilian due to his profession.

We need police officers to uphold the law. And their job is so dangerous. I'd support a stiffer sentence for someone who shoots/kills a cop, assuming that if the person were to shoot a civilian, the sentence would still be serious. Now, if we're saying the person who shoots the cop gets the death penalty and the person who shoots the civilian gets 4 years, then that's not cool.

I`m kinda iffy about this. I mean i cop do save lives sometimes and there job is very dangerous. but.....every man is created equal.

    Luke, play nice.

Yes I do agree that there should be a slightly stiffer sentence for shooting a cop. This doesn't mean I think his life is necessarily more important than anyone else's. But They uphold our laws, they keep us safe. Therefore, if you go around shooting police officers, you are actually making your community a little less safe.

  8. Hmph cop life is not considered as value to civillian life(here in U.S.). However, in situation of rescue, civillian life is prime rib. I argee with toph.

I don't think that the cops life is more valuable whats valuable is his position in life his rank in life.

Well, yeah, in the U.S. a cop life is more valuable than a regular person. I can see that because they help out. They risk their life to protect and serve. I get that. The thing I don't get is using their stupid lights to run a red light then turning it off after they pass the light! SO STUPID!!

Don't get me wrong. There are good cops and there are bad cops.
