2010 World Cup Thread

Heh, I did an English project on this. Anyway, I'm rooting for USA and Ghuana.

Okay, first match was South Africa vs Mexico. I was rooting for SA. No one scored in the first half. Second half, SA scored first and was yelling with happiness. The Mexico scored. a little nervous. then SA had a chance to score. blew it. then another chance just a few seconds in overtime that would seal their victory. blew it. the game ended in a draw and my uncle lost 50,000 dong; a little over $3.
overall, i was disappointed in SA a bit. oh, and i saw this in 3-D!!!

 

Just informing you two (if you didn't know as of yet) Korea's won their first match against Greece with a 2 nil lead.



It was pretty crazy tonight here. Everyone is simply cheering in the streets (outside bars with TV's) for the Argentina vs. Nigeria Game. I would gladly join but was working all night long and decided to come home straight after.

Anyway, simple question for the followers of FIFA. For the Australia vs. Germany game, who do you think will win?

 

i have to (unwillingly) accept that at least Australia will win. Or perhaps draw, if they could.

 

This is what I was thinking. A surprise win for Australia or perhaps a draw. From what I hear, Germany has a few injured. Australia's keeper is also freakin' awesome, Maybe if Australia gets a miracle early first goal and then focus on defence for the rest, they may have a chance. Unless of course Germany pulls off one of their miracle counter attacks and pull off 3 goals against Australia.
I think this one could be a good game to watch. Full of surprises.

 

Oh yeah, speaking of by the way...

Did you know that England had draw against United States?

And the other matches today aren't interested me. =/

 

I know about that! South Korea vs. Greece was CRAZY!!
Greece sucked so bad.
As for England vs. US..
I thought England would beat the butts out of the US!!!
But, it was a draw. So, good luck for their next match!

 

Australia was smashed by Germany with Germany having a 4:0 win. I actually thought Australia was going to do a lot better but they made a lot of mistakes and it looked to me Australia was just half-assing it out there. Germany deserved that win, being all over the ball and quick plays creating openings and scoring goals.
After the 4th goal, Australia seemed to be picking up their pace doing well in the mid field and keeping possession and not giving up. Fantastic display of spirit, where as most teams would simply give up at this point.

Yeah, Team Panzer deserves that win a lot and I was a fool to choose Aussie.

No way, Schwarzer's awesome. Defenders didn't do their job and the pressure was on for the old man (Schwarzer). Lucas Neil did most of the work for the Australian defence, miraculously saving an easy goal for the Germans. Still not enough, just too many mistakes overall.

Haha, those are pretty much my choices as well.
Netherlands/Denmark game starts in 10 minutes for anyone interested.
I Mainly got my eye on the Cameroon team here. Go Eto'o! Hope to be seeing him put a few balls in the back of the nets =D

 

So, it just finished the match between Netherlands and Denmark.

Netherlands win 2 - 0 against Denmark because of Denmark's own goal by Christian Poulsen and a goal from Kuyt

The match was pretty much meh, and Netherlands owns the game.

Can't wait to see Japan vs Cameroon.

 

Unlucky for Denmark with that own goal. I kind of enjoyed that game, the way Netherlands kept the ball for the majority of the game. Both teams played their best but Denmark just couldn't keep up.
Even though both goals were scored in the second half, I thought Denmark were doing better in that half being able to cover gaps and halt Netherlands advances (first half was insane with the ball on Denmark's side and Netherlands always having possession and shooting).
Kuyt's goal was disappointing though, Denmark kind of just looked at the ball roll into the nets.

And yes, Cameroon/Japan game in 20 minutes

 

Gah, the match ends with Cameroon's bitter defeat 1 - 0. It was shocking to see they were defeated in first match. But it was great match, Cameroon did what they could.

The asian surely loves to make surprises. I hope that it won't happen in North Korea vs Brazil.

Italy vs. Paraguay next. Lets see if Italy has better formula and strategy to prove that they still to be feared of.
