Reena nodded her head, "That sounds like a good plan. What do you intend to tell your men? I think i know a few already who are anti-war within my warriors, but there are still the rest, most which i already feel are for this war, since they were eager for this day. I think i will send home a majority of my warriors that i know for sure are for the war, and then keep the ones that i am sure and slightly unsure of that are anti-war as a sort of escort to the city. It won't be hard to convince them that we won't need many people to gaurd you and your men, and i mean no disrespect towards your race," Reena said placing a hand on the ground infront of Keneth, in a way showing respect.

Will tapped three times on one of the posts of the tent, making sure Keneth knew he heard everything, and that he would be with him the whole way. Will stood and slipped away, voicing his thoughts when he was about thirty feet from the tent. "So we are going to try and stop this war? I hope Keneth knows what he is diving into..." He muttered, entering his tent and unbuckling his cloak. He hung it next to his bed and then pulled his boots off, stifling the candle near the bed. "Good luck, my friend." He muttered before starting to drift to sleep.

"No harm done. We are different, no matter how alike our ideals seem to be." With this, Keneth smiled. "My men will follow me to the ends of the earth. I don't need to worry about what they may do. As for your plan, It has my backing." He looked outside the tent, seeing darkness beginning to fill the forest. "I better get to my tent before it gets to dark. Good night." Keneth stood, still smiling, and left the tent.

He walked through the various tents until he came upon Will's tent. He didn't enter, but simply said, "I'm pretty sure I taught you that eaves dropping is bad. That aside, I am glad to have your support. Good night." He continued on to his tent.

"Good night," Reena said as he left the tent. Then she sighed to herself, but not in a disatisfied manner. Keneth was an understanding and thoughtful man, she was suddnely glad that they have met one another, even under the harsh circumstances earlier that day. She felt that she was now capable, in a small way, to be able to stop this war. She smiled to herself and pulled off her boots and curled under her blanket, laying awake, but only for a short time, she knew, until she fell asleep.

    Chapter II
    A New Day is Dawning

Keneth awoke with a stick digging into his back. "Ow. Must not have noticed it when i pitched my tent." He grunted, rousing himself and getting out of bed. He pulled the tent open, he had slept in his clothes simply taking his armor off, and looked outside. Birds were singing, and it didn't seem possible that just yesterday this area had been a battle field. "Man can try, but the forest is simply untamable. I don't even think the Sidhe have been able to manage it." He said aloud.
He began walking through the camp, looking for Will's tent. When he arrived, he could hear snoring so loud it was amazing it didn't wake the entire camp. With a sigh, Keneth grabbed a brace and yanked it out of the ground. As the tent collapsed on Will, Keneth said, "Wake up sleeping beauty. I'm pretty sure your neighbors aren't appreciating the loud growling coming from your tent."

Will pulled his boots on and grabbed his cloak, crawling out of the mess. "Aye, but you get to pitch my tent tonight. And how did you hear me last night?" He asked, fastening his cloak. He was sure he had been silent except for the taps. "Oh well, it does not matter. Are we freedom fighters now?" He asked, strollng next to his friend.

"Because even though I taught you everything you know, I didn't teach you everything I know." He said with a grin. "Plus you make more noise than a heard of elephants to me." He continued walking on. "Yes, it seems we are now freedom fighters. Freedom from pain and sorrow. Freedom from this despicable war." He spat into the dirt. "We'll have to make sure our boys our up to it. Any sign of betrayl will have to result in them being taken out of the equation. Maybe send them with the party of loyal Sidhe heading back home. Course, that will get them killed anyways. I can't really see how we can handle any betrayl. You got any ideas?" He asked.

Will shrugged. "I am sorry my friend but not all of them will agree. Some of them resent me for even going in. They think I should have given the order to stay back and hide. They resent me for becoming a demon, for waking the darkness within..." He said, slowing in his stride. "Keneth, That girl Reena... I want to keep her safe from harm... from the war... from me..." He said.

Reena awoke and stretched her arms and legs which were slightly sore from sitting in the tree the day before. She briefly rubbed the blur of sleep from her eyes and started to pull on her boots. She took a little time to pack most of her things and roll up her bed roll, then she stepped out of her tent and looked about the stirring sidhe and occasional human deeper in the camp. "Well, i guess i better find Aerie first and tell her my plans," she winced briefly, hoping that Aerie would be okay with her idea, she would hate to go against her wishes. Reena walked over to Aerie's tent and called to her to see if she was awake.

"Don't bother, I heard the entire thing last night." A somewhat disgruntled Aerie grumbled, appearing behind her master with a basin of water supported by one of her hands and her head. "You didn't think that I would dare just leave my charge unguarded, would you? I was just outside the tent the whole time."

She took the basin and held it in front of herself for Reena to take it.

"I'll talk with you about that later - right now. You need to wash up and get ready. It's going to be a long day. . ."

Reena made a half smile and glanced into the water in the basin, then turned to fetch a towel from her pack. 'I kind of figured she might have done that,' she thought to herself. Once Reena had her towel she cleaned herself up and combed her long hair, which had a couple of tough knots from yesterday's battle and last night's sleep. Once she was finished she felt more presentable, although she could do much for clothing since traveling has already dirtied half of them and she was planning to save at least a couple clean outfits for the travel home. Once she was finished she began scavenging for food through her pack, looking for a loaf of bread or something to eat for a small breakfast.

"Miss Reena, you should honestly try to focus on your magic lessons some time. The Earth Mother would yield her bounty to you if you know enough." Aerie commented as she came into the roomy leader's tent, carrying a large bowl of various fruits. "It makes scavenging a whole lot easier, not to mention the everyday meals too. Now, I presume you wish to speak to me about something?"

Reena smiled at Aerie's comment, "I know, but i wanted to see if i had anything in my pack first," she said taking an apple from the bowl. "And yes, i would like to speak to you about my plans. You said that you heard everything last night, then i'd like to know if you're okay with my idea. Would you still want to stay by me even if it means turning against many of our people and the council? I have already made my decision to start the steps of bringing this war to an end, you know how sick of it i am. I hope you'll understand," Reena said taking a timid bite out of the apple waiting for Aerie's reply.

Keneth and Will arrived at a camp fire were there men were sitting, chattering away. They both looked up seeing their Commander and Vice Commander. It was amazing how they went from sitting to attention without seeming to pass through any space. "At ease." Keneth said waving a hand. They all gave a group sigh, some of them sitting. "I have a proposition for you. Will, would you like to start?" He asked.

Will nodded. "Aye. We have decided this war is very unnessecary. We want it to end and want to see which of you are loyal. We are joining with the Sidhe." A roar came from the men and he knew there was one way to shut them up. "Atten hut!" He barked. "We plan on joining with the Sidhe to try and stop this war. It is pointless to just keep fighting over one casualty while thousands are being lost on the field. Who are with us?" He asked.

Keneth could see that all but three of his soldiers were unhappy with the idea. He decided to add to Will's bluntness. "This war has claimed many lives, and kept us from our homes for a long time now. It has put our families in danger from attacks by the Sidhe. Do we really want to fight and kill all because one of our own citizens was dumb enough to cut down a tree that was on the lands of the Sidhe, killing a dryad? I think not." Now he could see that six of his men looked a little more for the idea. "I'm not requiring that you come with me. If you wish to leave you may do so. I have arranged for any who do not wish to come with us to go home if they like. I only ask that you keep your oath of loyalty to me by not speaking of what i really did, or were i and you comrades who join me are. If anyone asks, I was captured by the Sidhe and killed. You managed to escape and report back to the forts. Your enlistment is almost over anyways." Four men stood and walked over to him. They all said, "We pledged to follow you, even if that is to hell. We are behind you sir." Another got up, saying, "I don't have a family, but I'll join you anyways."
The last three stood. "We can't follow you in this sir, but we will honor our oaths. If your location is revealed, it won't be by us."
Keneth inclined his head. "Thank you all."

Will had turned when the man said he had no family, reminding him why he used to relish bloodshed, to love fighting. "I shall be outside Keneth." He said quietly, walking out of the tent. He now hated this war. It took his family awa, almost took the only brother he had left away last night. He wanted to go back to his past and stop the raid, stop the death of his whole village.

*Note: I apologize for not posting sooner. I thought I did earlier, and then I forgot to post once I realized I did, and yeah. Shit happened. Sorry.

Aerie took a deep breath before delivering her response.

"Well, I do want to help you. I agree that the council must be stopped. But, at the expense of our own people. . . You do realize the hardships that lie ahead now, right? It will be a long path, fraught with danger of the worse kind. If you say you are ready to face it all, then I will stand by you. After all, what kind of bodyguard would I be if I left you for something as silly as an opinion?"

Reena looked down, but with a determined look set on her face. “Yes, I know that the times ahead are going to be dangerous and for making this decision I may be condemning myself to death.” Reena looked up into Aerie's eyes, her determination still evident, “But it is the decision I have made and if I do die, I will make sure I have made a big enough difference to get this war turned around.” She paused and let out a pent up breath, then smiled softly at Aerie, “And I thank you for wanting to continue to protect me, you truly are a great friend.”

"Then so be it." Aerie uttered, cracking a smile. "Now, as for our troops. Most of them won't be very receptive towards this 'change of heart'. I already know who out of the mages would be on our side, and I trust you know the footmen and the archers better than I. We need to pick them and figure out a way to get rid of the rest, and quickly. If we delay too long, then they'd suspect something is amiss - most likely your association with the Human commander - and have a Coup."
