Ilia was in the upstairs of the house, trying to put Link's baby sister to sleep when she heard the front door slam shut. Startled, she jumped a little and the movement caused Niko to become fully awake, crying. Ilia tried to shush the child while rocking her back and forth as she walked down the stairs (put in place of the ladder in the game) to see Link in front of the door. She automaticly looked worried when she saw his expression, especially with the stories of whats been going on around the village and woods. "Link? Are you ok? What happened?"

Nalia had already thought of that plan. She reached down and tore her already tattered skirt off up to her knees so she could easily and more quicly move she then took the cloak Mark had handed to her. Honestly she thought it would look a little conspicuous for someone to be walking through town with a black cloak on in the middle of the day but at least she could keep her face hidden. She worried about her family and also her friends, Ben and his friends but she decided now wasn't the time to worry about that. For now she had no choice but to trust Mark and then she would go find her family... including her brother. "Ok, lets go." she said as she fastened the cloak around her sholders.

Mark nodded. He moved so he was under the hole. He picked up a rock and threw it through the hole. A rope ladder then came down, allowing them to get out. Mark let Nalia climb first before climbing up himself.

They were standing in a room that was littered with gold and other riches. There was an empty seat in the middle of the room. "Okay. Jovanni isn't here right now. Good. Don't think he'd like the notion of strangers in his house." Mark walked to the front door and opened it. They were now in a back alley of the town. Mark turned again to Nalia. "Just keep a low profile, and stay in the alleyways. The gate to the east isn't too far from here."

Picking himself up, Ben decided it would be best for him to head for Kakariko Village. There, he could gather up some equipment and try to find out where Nalia was at. Standing up, Ben decided to go through Castle Town, since it would save time. Gathering his cloak up and wrapping himself in it, Ben quickly entered Castle Town. He could tell it was in a uproar from his recent escape. Keeping his head hung low, Ben silently walked through crowds and came up to the Town Square. Taking a left, Ben started heading for the west gate.

Link sat up from the floor and looked at his mothers worried face. "Im sorry mom" Link said, He was somewhat apologising for making her worry and also for waking his little sister up.

"I was coming home from explor.... from walking" Link quicky walked across the room and grabed a cloth to wash his wounds with so that he didn't have to look at his mothers pircing gaze when she found out he got hurt exploring. "I had gotten abit dirty and was trying to wash off my shirt" Which he now remembered he didn't have with him, "And i was attacked from behind. I managed to get away and thats when I ran through the door" Link said finaly turning around to face his mother again.

Nalia followed Mark without much hesitation. This wasn't the first time she had wandered Hyrule Castle Town in disguise oddly enough... just never under so grim of cercomstanses. She walked past Mark and then turned a corner down one of the more quiet allyways. She walked a little more slowly so that he could catch up, unsure if she wanted to trust him completely or not still.

Ilia looked really upset but seeing as she was barely getting Niko to be quiet and go to sleep she decided not to yell. Instead she nodded and let him try to attend to his wounds in peace for a moment as she paced through the house until she was absolutely certain that Niko was asleep. She walked upstairs and put her back in her crib and then walked back downstairs, not exactly suprised that she wasn't near as angry as she had been before and kind of grateful she had waited until now to say anything. 'Age has made me slow down' she thought to herself irritably as she reached out to help him. She was still quiet for a long time, deciding that he had been punished enough by the looks of his wounds and besides, guilt usually worked on her husband all the time. "I'm glad you're ok." she finally said after a moment "There have been weird things happening all over the woods lately. Heck... there was an animal in the village just this morning that-" she stopped herself from talking, he had had enough excitement for one day without having to know that Rusl was dead and that his dad and a few other men from the village were going to go after the animal that had done it.

Ben stopped. He noticed guards coming in his direction. They couldn't tell who he was right now, but they would when they got close to him. Thinking quickly, he turned right instead and started moving towards the east gate. More guards started appearing, so Ben slipped into an alleyway. He kept his head down, hoping no one would notice him. He was paying so much attention to the ground he didn't notice someone walk out in front of him. Ben collided with the person and fell to the ground, his hood slipping off. He quickly got up, reaching for his hood. His eyes then drifted and he saw a figure that was shaped oddly familiar. He couldn't place where he had seen the figure. The person was bundled up in a cloak.

Mark was close behind Nalia. When Nalia and Ben collided, Mark quickly got inbetween them. He whispered in Nalia's ear so Ben couldn't hear him. "Just keep going. Don't stop and turn around."

He then turned around to Ben. "I appologize for you colliding with my friend. But we are in a hurry. So I also appologize for not being able to stay and talk. I hope this makes up for it." Mark handed Ben a silver rupee (sp?) before catching up with Nalia again.

Link had felt awkward when his mother hadn't said anything. He was expecting to get a lecture and when it didn't happen Link began to feel guilty, espessily when his mother came to help tend to him. He knew that this is what she wanted seeing as he had seen her do the exact same thing to his father.

His guilt subsided when his mother mentioned some animal in the village and then suddenly cut off in mid sentance. Deciding he would have more of a chance of getting an answer if he looked his mother in the face Link stood up from the stool he had sat on and turned around, The guilt instantly returned when he saw the shocked look in his mothers face. Link then decided his answer was to come first than he would set things straight with her

"What animal? And what did it do?"

Ilia put the cloth she had been using to help Link down and also stood up. Cursing herself internally for her loud mouth. She sighed "Something was in the village today. No one actually got a glimpse of it but whatever it was, it got Rusl." she said sadly "Thats all I know for sure. Your father went to see if he could get some more information."
Just then, Ilia once again was startled when the front door boomed open. "Ilia? Is everyone ok?" she heard her husband call as he was already on his way into the room Ilia and Link where in. Ilia surely hoped that the sound hadn't woken up Niko. "Link we're in here. Everyones fine." she said as she saw him enter. He looked worried but his expression quickly changed as he looked at his wife and son.
"Link are you alright?" Ilia said cautiously.
Link nodded "Yes. We ended up tracking the animal that had attacked Rusl. I was sure it's path led to this house." he shook his head. "Apparently we were wrong."

Nalia looked at Ben and hesitated. Here she was with this strange man she never met before who clamed to be helping her and no one would know if something actualy went wrong. Nalia had confedince in her self defense but she was no fool, you cant ever underestimate a friend or a foe. She paused and then took a moment to look at Ben, wondering if he could see through the shadows of her hood, then she gave Mark a slight nod and took off farther into the ally.

"That may have been what attacked me next to the river" Link said walking closer to his father and mother.

"What was it?" Link asked his son with concern on his face. "I'm not sure, it attacked me from behind, I never saw it" Link said feeling embarrassed "It chased me to the house" Link added at the end.

"You led it here?" Link asked with genuine surprise in his voice. "That must be why I thought the tracks lead here. Come son we must search the surrounding area, Just to be safe" Link said to him.

After Link had grabbed a clean tunic and equipped himself with his actual sword, which he was only allowed to use under the supervision of his father and his favourite shield, that his father had made him.
When Link got down stairs his father was already and waiting for him. What happened next seemed to be in slow motion. As Links father was reaching for the door handle something burst through from the other side. Link saw as his father was thrown across the room and knocked unconscious as he hit had against the far wall. Link immediately unsheathed his sword and charged at the beast. His sword seemed to have no effect on the beast. Next thing Link knew all went black.

Ilia screamed when the door suddenly slammed open and Link flew across the room. Upstairs Niko woke up and began crying but the commotion was too loud for anyone to hear. Ilia ran to Link and saw him unconcious on the ground and knelt next to him trying to wake him up. She saw movement from the corner of her eye and saw her son running at the black monster in the doorway "No! L...!" but it was too late as a part of the ceiling over Link's head caved in and another black monster jumped through it, landing on top of her son.
Ilia saw her husband's sword on the ground and picked it up. She managed to knock the monster away but the two of them turned her attention on her and one made a step toward her. Just then Ilia heard commotion upstairs and heard Niko's screams of terror and cries. Ilia panicked and ran upstairs, her heart pounding loudly in her chest as she saw a third creature standing over the crib on the other side from the door. Ilia ran to the crib and pulled Niko out and with a gasp kicked the crib over at the creature knocking it back a few steps but didn't do much damage. Ilia knew she had to go get Link to wake up. She went to the door to the stairs but the other two creatures were already there. Ilia stepped back, her eye's wide as she clutched her whimpering daughter closer and looked around. There was no escape. She was cornered.
    *Blackout*

    *Later*
The village looked completely different. There was a strange mist about the entire town and houses were caved in and broken. There wasn't a person in sight. Link's house was one of the worst. All that remained of the home was a couple of walls and the floor, one fraction of the ceiling was also there but it looked as if it would cave in any moment now. Ilia was gone along with Niko there was deathly silence and two figures lay on the ground unconcious. As Link woke up and sat up, he looked around and then suddenly felt a familiar pain deep in his gut. With a startled groan he tried to stand up. "Wh..." he panted, his face going pale and he could feel himself transforming "Aaahgh!" he groaned as his knees buckled and he fell on all fours. After all these years he had forgotten how much it hurt to transform but it only lasted a second before his scream turned into a howl and a large wolflike dog stood in the place of where Link once knelt. The wolf looked around and then took off to the crumbling staircase of his home but he reached the top to see that the staircase ended with nothing. He could see broken cradle on the black and white ground yards below him. "Ilia! Link!" he tried to call but it came out as a rough bark.
Annoyance grew in his chest and with a deep growl he padded back down the stairs and then saw his son lying on the ground unconcious under a stack of wood shards. He walked over to his son with a bad feeling in his chest daring not expect the worst. He pushed the rubble off of Link with his head and paw and then rested a massive paw on his chest. He growled again softly and tried to nudge Link with his nose. He could tell he was alive.

As Mark and Nalia got to the outer gates of the city she was suprised to see a woman standing in the middle of the bridge. She was just standing there facing away from the city. Her long black hair was hanging down to right between her sholders in a slightly messy state. She frowned and looked at Mark, unsure what to think of the woman. She stood as still as a statue.

Mark got a strange vibe from this stranger on the bridge. "She's looking for me, isn't she? But does she know of my origins? I certainly hope not. This might not bode well." Mark made sure his hood was over his head. "Act casual." He said to Nalia before continuing to walk across the bridge out of Hyrule and towards Lake Hylia.

As Nalia and Mark passed the strange woman she looked straight forward, her eyes were odd looking to Nalia. They were very pretty... but there was no color in them they were a silvery white color. Nalia wondered immediately if there was something wrong with them.

"You aren't as discreet as you think you are, Mark." she said his name without hesitation. Nalia was wondering if they knew eachother but then she said something that really suprised her "I saw you comming days away."

She ignored the suprise that she was sure both people were feeling and continued talking. She could tell it was Mark and Nalia because there were only two of them she could 'see' them in a way using the shape of the air around them "Having her out in the open like that is dangerous for both of you. He's looking for her you know."

"You're always the bearer of bad news, aren't you?" Mark asked. "I know he's looking for her. That's why we're in a hurry. The fewer distractions we have the quicker we can get to our destination. She'll be safe there. Why are you here?"

Ben stood there, the rupee standing out in his hand. He was struggling with himself. The person with the hood looked familiar, but he couldn't place them. He had a strange feeling he knew who it was, but he had to be sure. Ben pocketed the rupee and drew his hood as well, following close behind them. They came to the bridge and he saw a strange woman in front of them. She seemed to be talking to the man who had tried to bribe Ben. He inched closer and knelt behind a crate, trying to listen into the conversation.

Nalia was a bit annoyed that they were talking about her like she wasn't there but she held her tongue for the moment.

The strange woman at first didn't answer Mark. She walked past Mark and Nalia and toward the edge of the bridge. By now Nalia was sure this chick was blind so she had a sudden urge to go grab her hand to stop her from accidently falling off the bridge but the woman stopped just short and then turned and looked off in one direction, motioning Mark and Nalia to be silent as if she heard something. Then with starteling speed and acuracy, she reached behind a nearby crate and grabbed Ben's sholder and pulled him out of hiding. She looked in Mark's direction again "Because you didn't notice a comon boy following you. How do you expect to take the princess of Hyrule to wherever it is you're going without a little help."

    "Ben!" Nalia said.

"I kinda expected to get by without her identity being revealed." Mark said, irritated that she revealed Nalia right infront of Ben. He turned to Ben and picked him up with one hand. "Listen. I don't really care who you are or why you're following us. Or even why Nalia knows you. But you are going to turn around and walk away. It is for Nalia's safety. And for your own."

Ben cried out in surprise when he was pulled out from behind the crate. How she knew he was here, he didn't know. But his surprise was magnified when he heard Nalia call out to him. He turned to see his best friend standing beside the man who had tried to bribe him. The man spoke to him, telling him to leave. Ben glared at him, shrugging off the womans hand. "Not a chance buddy. She's my friend. And I'm sticking with her. No matter what. What are you going to do about it?"

Mark just glared. "I should snap his neck." Instead, Mark decided on something else. "I'll do this for starters." He threw Ben into the moat below. He flicked his hand back that was holding the scepter. It transformed into a sword. "You're waisting our time. Do not get involved in things that you cannot truly comprehend."

Ben sat up and wipped his face off, standing up again. "I'll get involved in it if it threatens my best friend. You have no say in that. Kill me if it makes you feel any better. But it will just waste your time even more doing that." Ben drew his knife out, just in case. Then he turned to Nalia. "Nalia, are you okay? He hasn't tried to hurt you, has he?"
