That would be a Diviner. However Offensive light magic would be more aimed at countering Necromancy and undead, rather than inflicting damage on people. Because a Diviner is technically an Acolyte they specialize in healing rather than damaging. Think of it like a White Mage from FF

I just now thought of something. There could be two types of light magic.

Holy: The kind that counters Necromancy and heals.
Regular: It can hurt anybody. But when compared to magic spells of the same level of different types (such as dark magic), it is weaker than all the others. In other words, regular light magic being the weakest type.

No. I'd actually prefer it if we had one class that didn't specialize in combat in any way. Although I'm sure it'd be nice to anyone who takes Acolyte if they wanted to use an offensive magic, however I think they'd be better suited as a support class who specialize in morale, health, & escaping (e.g. Light Burst spell creates a blinding light allowing your character to flee.)

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

    Yeah that's a good idea.
Also what will we be using for templates?
    I thought:

    name
    age
    school
    sub school (optional)
    role (student or something)
    appearance
    bio
    other

  5. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

That's good, but we also wanna include the points too.

? In what way? like we keep a public record for everyone to see what they have and spended?

Actually, What if we keep the template simple, and the rest of us tell them where they fit? It'll save a lot of confusion.

Rather than us band members actually participating in the RP, why don't we keep things under control. Like we're the admins? If we can think of a simple, smooth running way to work out the points system, its smooth sailing.

And about the Magnimage, wouldn't that be Geomage as well? Because if you think about it; when the Magnimage uses earth, so would a Geomage, and that would work for magnitism. So rather than a Magnimage using earth, they could use gravitaional magic.

    Actually, we need to give players a reason to post very regularly. As in something like this, when they're not doing anything particularly productive;

Ex: Dark Riku leaves the city to find a goblin and slay it.
Could we take that post, and say this person got so/so XP or something? Or is it just MP that we're going to be working with?. And it might be a good idea to give them HP as well, and have a band member take actions for the monster. Maybe?

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

what'dya mean by that? that we tell them their template? i dont get it.

Wouldn't it be better if we participate ourselves? That way we'll understand it better from their point of view, and we'll be in the problem, if their is one...
As for magnimage: Geomage isn't magnimage at all ...
geomage uses a combination of elements and magnimage only earth but more powerfull

In my opinion if we would add HP and XP, it would get overcomplicated...

  9. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

Okay, I don't mean the entire template. Their school, subschool, and when they choose what type of mage they want to be, then we give them pre-set skills.

Okay, maybe I'm not quite understanding the Geomage. I thought that Geomages were all about earth.

And with HP and XP, there would be a much slimmer chance that one of the Rp'ers would make themselves godlike. That's the last thing we need here. Because I'm gonna bet that there'll be a few that participate, that will compete with others for the sword. And I don't mean friendly competition. I mean one trying to 1-up the other.

  10. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

uh... mm... i think it would be more fun to them if they get to choose the skills and spells themself, rather than just train what's on the class menu.

is that a problem? you know now =)

Man... this is the hardest part...
uhh... in my opinion, XP idea is thrown in the trashcan immediatly (=O srry)I mean, what single purpose would it have?
But with health, i still don't know. It would prevent the RPers from godmodding, but we would also have to add strenght to the spells. And then there will probebly be resistances, and all. And it would more be much more complicated...
maybe we should just let the battles in the hands of the RPers with a band member watching over it.
I mean in the end, all the players will vote which two get the swords.

The Mage Points act as a type of XP, however its spendable. We don't need them to tell us what school they choose because we'll see that by how they spend their points. If someone puts in Fire and Earth then we assume they are going for Magmamage. Wind and Water head towards ice. I can keep creating a large list of sub-schools, but I don't think that's needed.

We are basically acting as the Admins either way. We are giving them spells for their class/es, we are setting up the story line, beginning and end, they choose how to write what happens in between. If we participate it can either be as RPers or NPCs. I actually thought of this last night, but I was planning on having you, Riku, play any villain NPCs -except for any of the five Warlocks who will be played by other RPers. This way people can verify which enemies will give them MP. While Merlin you could play as some of the good NPCs -e.g. Teachers at the Mage school-. This would allow us to help move the plot along.

As for giving the RPers something to aim for, that's what the spells and ranks are for. That's why everyone will be Sorcerer/Sorceress level and not gain a rank, but will gain power. At the end they'd all be Mage level casters, just w/o the title.

The templates are fine, however I don't want to tell them where they are best suited. That will have people creating characters for a certain school, but not for fun. As a negative it will also give the players less choices.

The HP and XP idea is nice, however I tried to suggest a mass KH RP for everyone to join, and it got shot down. That's why with this one its a bit more dumbed down and we don't have XP. We have to trust that the players won't do anything God like during the RP given their stats. We can also post major and minor boss stats so that way it'll give the Players a reference for the difference in power. I want the players to think like writers, not just players. If they think like this [as writers] I'm sure the RP will go smoother and more enjoyable for everyone, even people who are just reading.

Geomage is a universal mage. I don't like it being called Geomage because it implies earth rather than harmony. Maybe we can switch that to Harmony Mage? (P.S. Where is Geomage from?)

I think for the overall MP system, we [Band members] will have to award points based on the enemy(ies) that are taken down.

On a side note to the HP: Merlin is right on the HP making things complicated. We'd need to have a system for point reduction and that'd be pretty hefty work for something that should flow.

    Thanks, man!

Geomancer is mostly from the FF series. That's cuz balance mages(my interpetation) don't really have a name like pyromancer.

so we'll not be doing HP?

  13. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

No HP deal. Again we have to go with the honor system. If a fire ball is hurled at you, and you can't dodge in proper time, you get burned near to death or are dead.

  14. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

    That's true XD
we gotta trust the RPers that they won't godmod.
Well... what does that leave us to discuss?
cuz i think this RP is almost ready for take-off!
[ btw would you want me to rp as one head teacher of multiple teachers? (leaving the other good NPC's but teachers out)]

  15. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

Hmm.. I guess it depends on if the players would have the same school. Other wise you'll have to play multiple charactes simultaneously.

Other than that I say we let Riku catch up and reply. See what he has to say.

  16. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

It's not a problem at all, don't get me wrong =P i mean, it's not like the RP'ers will constantly be hanging at the teachers xD.
but yeah, let's let him catch up.

  17. Haresuno

Hey something that just came to mind: What if we gave the RP a controversal them? Like how FFIII (I think) had the bad guys the actual good guys.

    You know?

Just a little something to make the story revolve around a constant them, rather than objects.

Okay, I'm loving this whole idea. So, you'd want me to be villains like bosses and such?

    Taking actions for them etc.?
Gotta tell me how they'll defeat me, and what parameters I can work in and all that. Otherwise, I could seriously screw it up.

  19. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

    Right.

The baddies you'd be playing, Riku, would be the main antagonist -which you'd only post as under my direction- and more minor and semi-major bosses. While you play those, five RPers will play as the main antagonists subordinates.

The main parameters would be to play at the level you think is right against the players. I'm not gunna tell you the entire specs for the villains because that takes away from your creativity. Instead I'll probably come up with a rough or vague description or history and you could take it from there.

In contrast, Merlin would be playing NPCs like informants and the teachers at the school, so needless to say his posts at the beginning are going to be rather large if the players choose to interact with the teachers. I would hope that they do. From what I've seen little to no RPs -and posts- start out with multiple characters in a scene.

This is understandable from my viewpoint because most people don't want extremely short posts as it ruins the flow. However there are a lot of things people overlook when they typically RP such as scenery & emotions.

Many people will just blatantly state how their character feels and they ignore the entire world around them. A lot of RPers don't say how their character feels by body language which is something that many people over look.

    OMG!!! that's an awesome idea!
Like in the end, good NPCs come out evil! But not all in that point... teachers or some should stay heroes.
