Alright, but that would also mean we need to set up a point system to award the members.

Yep, that way we'll still have control over the rp.
I can make some spells for a school tommorow.

Alright, that sounds fine. I also want it to be fairly realistic. Like low level spells will increase in power as you progress, due to the fact that they've been with you longer.

EDIT: Also we might want to think about starting points and categories. For example:

    Mage Points Total: 10

    Fire: 2

    Water: 2

    Wind: 2

    Earth: 2

    Spirit: 2

Sorcerer/Sorceress Level Fire **NOTE: This is an example of what someone who chooses Geomage for their class might look in their fire section.**-

Spark rank 1 (Natural skill for Pyromages)
[Natural level 1 +2 for level = Spark rank 3]

    Fire ball rank 0
Requirements = Must know and have at least 2 ranks in Spark
[+2 for level => Fire ball rank 2]

    Flare rank 0
Requirements = Must know and have at least 1 rank in Spark (Thus making this a natural spell for Pyromages)
    [+2 for level => Flare rank 2]

    Large Fire ball rank 0
Requirements = Must know and have at least 3 rank in spark & 2 ranks in Fire ball
    [Requirements met: Rank +1]

Using this as an example, Merlin, someone who has chosen Geomage and puts a MP in fire gets to level up their spells. This is only an allusion to what could be, so don't take it as concrete.

With this idea, people who choose Pyromage automatically get Spark and at a rank of 1. When someone puts a point in fire knowledge, that rank increases. So now instead of a rank 1 Spark, we now get a rank 2 because it already starts at 1. Though we still need a cap, because these are only low level spells and they will grow in strength as the play puts more points into it. Also I'm not sure if I should be saying "Level one spells" as to saying "Sorcerer level spells."

I've edited to say Sorcerer/Sorceress, so that's taken care of. Next I think that there should only be four or five spells per "level" as it were. The final spell has to meet the requirements, making it more of a trophy to show how advanced someone is. Maybe after they've reached the final spell, they move on, which would mean the requirements need to be higher.

I don't think I have to do the others in order for you to get the idea, but if you have any questions, let me know.

no i get it but, you said four or five spells per level. Shouldn't that be more of three?
I mean it's not like everyone is going to pick pyromancer as their class. I think that if we put four or five spells per level on each class, their would come discussions about the spells becuz there are so many.

  5. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

True, but that still leaves the question on how to go about the upgrades. Wouldn't we need to make it harder for them to get points or harder requirements?

Mmm.... this leaves me thinking for a while.
How are they even gonna earn points without creating chaos?

    BTW:

    hows this:

Maybe the template of my diviner student.
Left is character, middle is staff he uses, and right is possible dragon pet (child)

if anything is wrong withthis tell me, so i can start working on a new one

The point system is what we need to create, I'm willing to take any ideas from even Non-Band members. So long as they PM me about it.

As for your character template there, it's fine, however like I stated in the rules: If you're going to have a companion you need to have it for a valid reason for it. Not just so its there, but a magical influence for it.

  8. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

No, i know. i was just asking if this would be stated as a magical companion

  9. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

Yes. A dragon whelp would be considered a magical companion. Color of a dragon in this will not mean it's weaker or stronger, just that its a different color. -Maybe we could branch off of that in the rp ;)-

Anyways. I don't think I'll have a problem with companions, so long as they're relatively young. I doubt a Sorcerer/Sorceress would get a full grown untamed dragon.

  10. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

    of course not xD

    and for the aermage class:

shouldn't we make two branches of the school? (and yes i keep refering to them as schools xD)
    like:

branch one: wing school (pure wind magic)
    storm school (electricity magic)

sorry but i keep thinking storm isn't aer magic.

  11. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

Lol no that's fine. We do need to think ahead for sub-"schools" as you've called them.

For example Thaumaturge would be a combination of Water and Wind, and thus they'd have their own spells and maybe some base spells of the two classes.

  12. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

I know I'm just seeing this, but guys, this is impressive.
I can't wait to see how this turns out. And can't wait to get my mind into this. (evil grin)

    lol Usurp? xD
well i will be thinking about the points system some more =P
omg...this has left me thinking for ages (two days)

  15. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

    Pyromage

    Hydromage

    Magnimage (Magnitude e.g. earth)

    Acolyte (Healer)

Aermage (Aer is latin for air)

Naturalist (Nature mages. People who communicate with animals and plants. This can be a sub category for Magnimage)

    Geomage

    Necromage (Only Warlocks)

    Shadowmage (Warlock)

    Diviner (Sub class for Acolyte)

    Summoner

    Prophet

That's what we have for classes and sub-classes so far.

And yes. Usurp. I think that's right..

As for the point system I thought about going with a set amount of points for enemies you and I send in, because left to their own devices, the players would throw their characters at enemy after enemy in order to gain levels. Not an extremely bad idea if this was an RPG but because we're trying to get a story-line going, that's not the best idea.

Maybe something like when we set up a chapter, we make five mini-bosses (or w.e.) and one major boss. That way we do something like mini-boss = 1 MP & boss = 5 MP. But I don't know if we want to distribute those points as a party or as individuals based on who was there when the boss was defeated.

individuals except others holp by defeating minions, or planning or something in that direction.

Okay, so would it be safe to say something along the lines of:

"To earn Mage Points (MP) your character must help in some way to advance and benefit the main story plot, not the characters development plot. This means that if your character goes to a tavern and gets in a bar brawl and takes out five guys, he does not get MP. Unless one of those guys was a major informant, its a no go."

However that still leaves us open to the honor system.. Next thing you know we'll have people dropping huge fireballs on towns and saying that it was filled with Warlocks: "ZOMG MP NAO!?!"

Do you think BoCB members should decide if it advances/benefits the plot?

  18. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

Mmm... In what way exactly? I mean we have to keep control, but Also let the rpers develop the plot.

  19. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

I know, that's why I'm uncertain about it. I mean we most certainly will allow the RPers to develop the story as they see fit, so long as it reins in and ends the way we want: Two RPers gain the swords and become Gods.

What I was trying to say was -using the tavern fight as an example- if someone "finds" a guy with viable information, we choose if that so called 'information' is worthy to the plot and contributes to MP. If we go this way I think it would be better for the RPers to PM us to make sure it's okay first.

I can help a bit with that if you want.

And also, do you have people use light magic? Offensive light magic?
